QBD (Cresswell J) 2/2/95

CIVIL PROCEDURE - INSURANCE

LLOYD'S CASE MANAGEMENT ARRANGMENTS

All Lloyd's litigation cases must now be commenced in QBD Commercial List.

The plaintiffs had instituted two actions against firms of auditors arising from Lloyd's business in the Chancery Division which had now been transferred to QBD Commercial List. HELD: Evans J then in charge of the Commercial List had made provision for the management of "all existing and future cases concerning the conduct or management of business at Lloyd's and involving either the Society of Lloyd's or disputes between parties involved in the business of Lloyd's including underwriting members and underwriting agents and brokers". Saville J had initiated a detailed management plan. All future cases concerning Lloyd's litigation must be commenced in the Commercial List if the overall case management arrangements were to be successfully achieved.
