Setting the record straight

From the Earl of Stockton

In reference to Sir William Jaffray's letter (European Voice 28 May-4 June) about Lloyd's, the European Parliament did not vote to set up a temporary committee of enquiry.

I would therefore like to refer him to the Parliament's Rules of Procedure on this matter. If Parliament has not considered it necessary to set up a committee of inquiry either for the Prestige disaster or the alleged misuse of funds to Palestine, it is unlikely to do so on the issue of implementing directive EU 239/73.
The Earl of Stockton MEP
